Varsity Players of the Game: Matthew & Sol!

In a thrilling matchup against Mercer Island, Matthew and Sol rose to the occasion with game-changing plays that sealed the Wolverines’ victory.

Matthew was a force on both ends of the pool—scoring four goals and delivering four clutch steals against MI’s top player, including two right in front of the goal to stop high-percentage shots. His calm, focused presence disrupted Mercer Island’s offense and sparked Bellevue’s momentum. As just a freshman, Matthew’s performance shows he’s already a key contributor with a bright season ahead.

Sol turned the tide when it mattered most. With Bellevue clinging to a one-goal lead, MI’s #3 broke away for a one-on-nobody fast break. Sol came up huge with a stunning block, stopping what looked like a sure goal. Seconds later, he followed it up with another clutch save, giving his defense time to reset and shutting down MI’s comeback hopes. His back-to-back stops ignited the team and kept the Wolverines in control.
